For the most part of a decade Robert Hallmark has taken a position on the Permian Basis Heritage station for news, information and entertainment, KCRS. Inside the Morning Drive Robert has used his radio talents to build a solid programming line up.
Robert started broadcasting when he was 16 years old. While still in High School he hosted an afternoon ‘Rock’n Roll’ program on KERC in Eastland, TX..
Influenced by a love for music and performing he continued on this career choice through college with stints at KRBC radio in Abilene and on to a full time announcing job at KXYL in Brownwood. The Brownwood job soon turned into more than just a music station.
In 1981, he accepted a job at KEAN in Abilene and wound up as part of duo known throughout the “Big Country” as “Bobby and Bonnie”. Programming opportunities in Little Rock, AR, and Waco, TX kept the Robert Hallmark family moving through the 80’s. He has worked in music formats from Rock and Country to Big Band.
In 1991, Robert accepted a position with KCRS-AM & FM in Midland, TX., and from that position he has worn many hats including program director, sports color commentator , and now host of a daily three hour talk program, “The Morning Drive”. Since its first airing in the spring of 2001, “The Morning Drive” has grown to include a live tv simulcast locally on MY16 cable and now ranks among the top morning shows in the area.
With a degree in Mass Communications his broadcasting career has placed him in contact with music stars, news figures, and community leaders. He has a keen interest and enthusiasm for marketing and public relations and “The Morning Drive” is just the place to showcase that talent.
Kurt Verlei’s broadcasting career started in his home state Ohio, where he delivered news on WOUB in Athens, AM/FM and Television. As a Captain in the U.S. Army Signal Corps, he added to his broadcasting experience. Since that time he has gone on to management positions as Operations Dir. for a radio station and then General Manager’s position in TV. Kurt has also been co-host of programs at KMTY in Clovis, New Mexico.
Kurt holds a Bachelor or Science in Communications and a Masters of Business Administration, and now teaches Advertising, Management, and Marketing. Kurt has owned his own public relations and marketing firm in the Permian Basin.
Kurt fancies himself a student and scholar of history, a fan of the daily crossword and an expert in his own opinion, making him perfect to co-host the Morning Drive.
