Jesse Grimes grew up in the Houston area, graduating from Pearland High School.He later graduated from the University of Texas at Austin with a Bachelor’s degree in Radio, TV, and Film.He started his radio career in East Texas with jobs in Wharton and Livingston, Texas.In 1974, he accepted a job at radio station KNFM-KNAM in Midland.He started as a disc jockey, but then moved to full time news, and eventually became news director.During his tenure there, he served on the UPI Broadcast Association of Texas board of directors, including one year as chairman.He spent six years in television, including three years as a reporter for Channel 9.Jesse later worked another three years as both a reporter and assignment editor at Channel 7 in Midland-Odessa.He returned to radio at KCRS in 1988.He has been with KCRS ever since, serving as news director and coordinator of sports broadcasts.Jesse has received several awards for broadcast journalism and public affairs broadcasts from Associated Press, UPI, and the Texas Association of Broadcasters.His off-duty interests include community theater, sports, music, and the arts.
