Yellowstone creator sets new Land Man series in West Texas

Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan is headed to West Texas to produce your new favorite TV addiction "Landman" on Paramount+. The show is based on a Podcast from Texas Monthly called "BoomTown". “It really focuses on greed," Sheridan said about the upcoming series. "The very best and the very worst of man, of humanity. And that is a story worth telling and worth exploring.

As you would expect, Sheridan has signed on a big name to star in "Landman". Billy Bob Thornton will play Tommy Norris, a crisis manager for an oil company. Folks from the Permian Basin aren't a stranger to Billy Bob Thornton, he was here back in 2004 filming "Friday Night Lights" where he portrayed Coach Gary Gaines.

Joining Thornton are Michelle Randolph, Jacob Lofland, and Ali Larter, Randolph will play Ainsley Norris, “the wild and strong-willed seventeen-year-old daughter of Tommy Norris (Thornton).” Lofland will play Cooper Norris, “Tommy’s son, who is new to the demanding work in the oil and gas fields of west Texas.” Larter will play Angela, Tommy’s ex-wife.

The series according to Sheridan will highlight the Oil Boom here in the Permian Basin and how it has changed the economy, the climate and even politics. No word yet when it will start filming.
